Provides leadership for the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Patient Access Department to ensure the overall mission of the Shared Revenue Cycle Organization (SRCO) and Advocate Health Care are met. Oversees the operational performance of the group and provides key insights and recommendations to the SRCO Executive Director of Patient Access related to Patient Access and facility operations. Contributes to performance improvement activities by partnering with SRCO leaders as well as members of the site clinical operations team to move forward operational performance goals.
The specific responsibilities for the Site Patient Access Department include the following functional areas: scheduling (in scope), insurance verification, pre-certification, financial counseling, pre-registration, and registration. Ensure operational effective of the patient access and financial counseling processes to secure financial sponsorship for each patient in order to improve cash flow and income statement improvement from revenue cycle operations. Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, other federal and state programs that regulate the key operational areas listed above. Serve as a site~ based resource related to the facility emergency preparedness procedures including designing department emergency contingency plans, conducting department emergency preparedness drills aligned with regulations provided by local, state and/or national agencies. Administer Advocate Health Care's Financial Assistance Program. Serves as on-site SRCO point of contact for the facility VP of Finance as well as senior executive leader and act as a liaison between site leaders and leaders of the SRCO based business operation group. Collaborates with the site leadership on issues related to the overall performance of the facility specific results for the revenue cycle and secure their participation is tactical initiatives.
Establishes a department culture that values date driven decisions, continuous performance improvement. Provides measurable positive performance at a site level in the key areas of patient and physicians satisfaction, accurate clinical scheduling, insurance and financial clearance. Ensure that the area fully meets the both state and federal regulations on the work environment and in the gathering and sharing Patient Health Information (PHI) to internal and external business associates and regulatory agents.
- Bachelor's degree required. Masters degree preferred.
- 5 - 7 years progressive leadership experience in a patient registration/access environment
- 3-4 years experience with patient scheduling, registration and/or patient accounting processes
- 3-4 years experience with regulatory agencies and regulations (IDPH, Medicare, Medicaid, Accrediting Organization, etc.)
- Excellent process redesign skills
- Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills
- Work will often require flexibility and meeting tight deadlines.
- Able to communicate with many different customers and seek solution to move the organization forward.
