AltaMed Health Services Empowers its Community to Take Control of Their Health Through Civic Engagement

First few Article Sentences

California Latinos enjoy more influence today than ever before. They run tens of thousands of businesses in our state; they support scores of Spanish-language newspapers, radio and TV stations; they make up a sizable proportion of nearly every county in the state, and they are elected into critical leadership positions.

As the nation’s largest federally-qualified health center, AltaMed Health Services understands that there are many factors that affect the quality of life of its patients. Despite the progress made with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), access to health care is still a major issue.

There’s no denying that there’s been an increased politicization of health care. As pressure from the Administration to chip away at the ACA intensifies, AltaMed leaders have responded by launching a non-partisan civic engagement program called My Vote, My Health or Mi Voto, Mi Salud™. This program aims to inform, empower and mobilize our patients and employees to protect access to their health care through the power of their vote. It also addresses low voter turnout among eligible Latinos.
