The Lead Radiology Technologist performs the regular duties required of technicians in this field and works closely with the Radiologist. This position will help supervise and train other radiology techs. Additionally, this person helps resolve any issues between staff and radiologists, nursing departments, surgery, and other medical professionals in a hospital or clinic.
Essential Job Duties:
Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, CT scanner, or mammography equipment, evaluates accuracy and quality of images, and provides technical assistance. Responsible for maintaining updated exam protocol manual and communicating any changes in said manual to modality specific staff. Insures accreditation certifications for specific modalities are kept up to date. This includes all facets of new accreditation as well as re-accreditation processes Oversees quality control testing, safety of equipment maintenance and trouble shooting. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements. Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history). Directs and coordinates activities of radiology department in the hospital. Reviews and manages work schedules and assigns duties to workers to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals. Serve as an expert resource to staff. Staff needs to feel comfortable going to the lead as a resource for clinical or technical questions, patient or customer concerns, and process questions. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, equipment storage areas and any other areas in department. Demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Recommends personnel actions, such as performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary measures. Performs staff orientation, training, and coaching. Coordinates purchase of supplies and equipment and makes recommendations concerning department operating budget. Utilizes imaging equipment for the purpose of creating diagnostic digital images, operates radiographic equipment, evaluates the digital images for accuracy, prepares patient rooms, equipment supplies and medications and provides patients services using imaging modality. Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Other duties as assigned.
Radiology Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with current ARRT certification. Minimum of 3 years’ Radiology experience required and previous lead or supervisory experience preferred. Current BLS certification. Exceptional organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and communication, both verbal and written skills. Capable of making good judgment with decisions and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to teach and orient staff. Knowledge and training in the modalities of x-ray, CT and mammography.
Days/Hours: Days and hours are variable. Includes some call time and some weekends.
Department and FTE: Radiology; .90 FTE: 36 Hours/week. Benefit eligible.
