Director - Quality and Safety

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Quality and Safety Director is responsible for coordination, development and evaluation of all outcome activities including but not limited to: Quality Improvement, Quality Reporting, Infection Control, Survey Readiness, Coordinating and supervising Accreditation/Certification Activities, Risk Management, Patient Satisfaction and Employee Health. Works in partnership with Physicians, Executive Team and Department leaders to envision and implement the organization’s quality and patient safety plan. Participates in root cause analyses and quality improvement projects. Develops, implements, and administers integrative quality programs in accordance with the most recent standards of accrediting organizations, all Federal, State and regulatory agency requirements; coordinates ongoing quality and process improvement functions. Develops and monitors Quality management goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization's strategic plan. Create, Coordinate and Analyze data for presentations to the Alliance Governance Board, Quality and Safety Committee and Leadership Council. Develops, evaluates, and maintains quality dashboards and performance metrics

EDUCATION/LICENSURE:

  • 3 to 5 years quality management experience
  • Current State of Washington RN licensure (preferred)
  • Baccalaureate degree in healthcare or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience/certification in following areas (preferred)
    • Performance Improvement
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Accreditation/Regulatory
    • Risk Management
    • LEAN and Studer principles
    • ISO-9001
  • An understanding of financial management and a commitment to the provision of costs-effective care.
  • Maturity and interpersonal skills necessary to lead and coordinate interdisciplinary teams and deal effectively with patients, families, and caregivers from a variety of backgrounds and with varied emotional and medical needs
  • Excellent customer relationship skills, interest and willingness to create and maintain relationships with all key customers, patients/families, physicians, payers, other departments, and outside agencies
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Progressive responsibility within a managerial position
  • Comprehensive (wide base) knowledge of patient care and hospital systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintains high degree of confidentiality
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

SKILLS:

Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental and infection control regulations. Knowledge of research methods and procedures used in conducting medical/clinical data analysis; good knowledge of nursing and medical practice. Familiarity with program planning and evaluation techniques, chart review and abstraction. Ability to compile, analyze and interpret medical data and forecast trends, implement protocols or standardization in collaboration with departments, managers, and medical staff. Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Shows good judgment; initiative and goal driven; ability to educate and provide just-in-time training.
